China Clay Producers Association (CCPA) is organized to advance and encourage development and production of kaolin-based products, and to work with the people of Georgia in communities where the mineral is mined and products are manufactured.
Kaolin is mined and processed in many countries worldwide. Evaluation of refined kaolin output, however, is a far more meaningful way to estimate the economical state of the industry. The China Clay Producers Association represents the major producers and processors of Georgia kaolin.
For this reason, the kaolin is processed extensively in order to become value-added products used by consumers all over the world. The process by which kaolin is turned into products for industrial applications is extensive, requiring large capital investments in equipment and technology.
The process by which the kaolin clay material is processed (@ approx. 1400 degrees C) creates what is known as Calcined Kaolin (Chamotte). Raw and Processed Kaolin Both products are utilized in the ceramics and porcelain industries.

Kaolin Overview . The basics behind where kaolin comes from On the surface, it looks unremarkable. A platy soft white clay mined and processed by BASF in Georgia, kaolin can hide just how versatile and vital it is to a diverse list of industries by appearance alone.
The kaolin is then is blunged in a process that mixes kaolin, water and disper-sant to create a workable suspension and fully liberate the clay particles. After blunging, the kaolin slurry is processed through degritting equipment which re - moves quartz, sand, mica and other impurities. The degritted slurry is …
Kaolin is the most common mineral of a group of hydrated aluminum silicates, approximately H2Al2Si2O8-H2O. It is prepared for pharmaceutical and medicinal purposes by levigating with water to remove sand, etc.
The processed-kaolin particle film material was highly reflective to the ultraviolet wavelengths and this characteristic may be important in reducing solar injury to both fruit and leaves. Renquist et al. (1989) indicated that attenuating UV absorption
Georgia's Kaolin Industry Employment, Economic & Environmental Impact. What is Kaolin? Kaolin, which is also known as "china clay," is a white, alumina-silicate used in making paper, plastics, rubber, paints and many other products.
Kaolin Mining In Middle Georgia. THE FALL LINE The origin of kaolin can be traced to the Cretaceous geologic period, about 70 million years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth and much of the southern half of Georgia was covered by a great sea.
Kaolin is an important industrial mineral having numerous uses and requiring various market specifications. High brightness kaolin clays represent a continuing challenge to the producer. An advancement in this field of Kaolinite Clay Beneficiation has been a patented process developed by Minerals and Chemicals Philipp Corporation and termed Ultra Flotation.
Kaolinite (/ ˈ k eɪ ə l ɪ n aɪ t /) is a clay mineral, part of the group of industrial minerals, with the chemical composition Al 2 Si 2 O 5 4.It is a layered silicate mineral, with one tetrahedral sheet of silica (SiO 4) linked through oxygen atoms to one octahedral sheet of alumina (AlO 6) octahedra. Rocks that are rich in kaolinite are known as kaolin / ˈ k eɪ ə l ɪ n / or china clay.
